To say I am deeply and utterly in love with this piece is an understatement.
We went to a small antique store in Pike's Market in Seattle. I'll be sure to do a post with some pictures and what we were digging through (including what I think was the biggest collection of salt and pepper shakers I've ever seen!). I saw this shell inside their costume jewelry case and nearly fainted.
I've tried to buy one of these shells 3 TIMES. And they are never for sale. Antique stores love to keep these next to cameos so people can see how they are made. This shell helps dealers sell the finished pieces.
We got really lucky in that the store no longer sold fine cameos and so they were willing to part with this beautiful shell. 285702357 happy dances later, and I bring you my favorite cameo shell!
